Norwegian books on display in Hanoi
More than 350 Norwegian books
will be on display at the Vietnam National Library in Hanoi from May 14-20.
The exhibition entitled “An introduction to Norway ” is being held to mark
Norwegian Constitution Day – May 17.
The set of books, published between 2006-2008, both fiction and non-fiction,
cover a wide range of topics in English. They are mainly about Norway and areas
of Norwegian expertise, including the environment, managing natural resources,
social welfare, oil and energy, shipping, governance, gender equality and
international law.
“I hope this will be of some interest to Vietnamese readers and inspire them to
find out more about Norway. It will also help to promote mutual understanding
and friendly relations between the two countries and their peoples,” the
Norwegian Ambassador to Vietnam Kjell Storlokken told a Vietnam News Agency
reporter on May 13.
At the opening ceremony, those attending will be brought up to date on the
Norwegian Government’s strategy in Vietnam and also be able to watch a short
film on Norway.
The books, worth more than 100,000 Norwegian Krone (275 million VND), will be
donated to the Vietnam National Library.
