Uncle Ho’s birthday celebrated abroad
Vietnamese diplomats in Cuba
and representatives from the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP)
on May 17 visited and presented computers to the Havana-based Ho Chi Minh High
School on the occasion of President Ho Chi Minh’s 119 th birthday (May 19).
The school’s rector Antonio Vera praised the deep-rooted ties between the two
peoples fostered by Jose Marti and Ho Chi Minh, adding that the Cuba-Vietnam
solidarity will continue to be respected and preserved by young generations.
On the same day, student members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in
Cuba and ICAP representatives also presented gifts to underprivileged children
in Lisa district, Havana .
President Ho Chi Minh’s 119 th birthday was also celebrated at a ceremony in
Paris , France , on May 17 in the presence of the Vietnamese Ambassador to the
UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Van Nghia Dung
and former Vice State President Nguyen Thi Binh.
At the ceremony, participants talked about the President’s life and his
sentiments towards overseas Vietnamese in general and the Vietnamese community
in France in particular.
Also the same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria held a talk under the theme
of “Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh”.
