A touch of highlands romance
A café in HCMC celebrates the
romantic town of Da Lat with delicious coffee, landscape photography showing the
mountain mists, and live music.
Quy Café in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 3 is like a tiny slice of Da Lat, the
well-known tourist center in the Central Highlands.
At 400/1C Le Van Sy Street, the café is in a quiet alley about two kilometers
from the city center. It has two rooms decorated with photos of Da Lat taken by
two photographers - Michel Phuoc, also known as MPK, a renowned resident Da Lat
photographer, and Japanese photojournalist Fukui Takaya. In the center of the
café is a picture of da quy (Tithonia diversifolia), the wild sunflower symbol
of the town famous for its mild weather.
Customers can browse the bookshelf which is devoted to the highland town and
listen to love songs by famous
Vietnamese musicians Trinh Cong Son and Ngo Thuy Mien or be entertained by an
inspired customer playing the café’s acoustic guitar.
By night, Quy Café is a popular rendezvous - a cozy place to meet new people and
make friends, sit together to play the guitar and sing songs.
On Saturday nights, Quy Café usually organizes live performances from artists
and customers.
The coffee is delicious with beverages priced between VND20,000-35,000
(US$1.40-2) each.
