Grand procession of Lord Buddha’s relics to be held
The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)
will organise a grand procession of relics of the Lord Buddha and holy monks to
Quan Su pagoda in Hanoi and Bai Dinh pagoda in northern Ninh Binh province on
June 6.
The relics are gifts from Most Venerable Tinh Giac, Patriarch of the Ho Chi Minh
City-based Giac Quang Pagoda and Supreme Advisor of the Thai Royal Buddhist
Sangha.
The VBS Vice Secretary, Venerable Thich Gia Quang, said at a press briefing on
June 1 that the grand procession is a significant event, aimingto honour the
Buddhist dogmas and cultural values in today’s life.
On the occasion, the VBS will hold a week of prayers for monks, nuns and
followers to worship the relics, which will be then located in Quan Su pagoda,
headquarters of the VBS, and Bai Dinh pagoda, the largest Buddhist pagoda in
Vietnam.
