First beach football tourney kicks off in Khanh Hoa

      The Vietnam Football Federation joined hands with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province in central Vietnam to kick off the national beach football tournament at Nha Trang beach on May 30.
The event, the first of its kind, has attracted eight teams from coastal provinces and cities, including Haiphong, Thua Thien Hue, Danang, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Binh Thuan, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Khanh Hoa.
The teams are divided into two groups and competing in a round robin format. Each team has five footballers, who play in three parts, each lasting 12 minutes. There are no limits on substitution.
The VFF has put the sport into the national sports system, encouraging its development at the local level. The organization is preparing for regional and international competitions.
The beach football tournament will end on June 4.
