Vietnam opens four new domestic air routes
Vietnam will soon start to
operate four new domestic routes, helping to shorten the flying times on several
routes and improve the efficiency of aviation activities and monitoring.
Pham Quy Tieu, Deputy Minister of Transport and Head of the Civil Aviation
Administration of Vietnam (CAAV), made the announcement at a conference in Hanoi
on June 3.
The four new routes are from Meova in China to Noi Bai in Hanoi, Phu Bai central
Hue city to Pleiku in the Central Highlands, Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City to
Baven in China and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho to Buon Ma Thuot in the
Central Highlands.
In addition, the CAAV will adjust six domestic routes to serve international
flights.
According to Phan Xuan Duc, Deputy General Director of the national flag
carrier, Vietnam Airlines, will start using the new routes from July 2 in an
effort to lessen flying times.
Vietnam Airlines estimates it will have a total of 17,920 flights using the four
new routes, he said, adding that they could save the carrier up to hundreds of
billions of VND a year.
