Thousands of visitors enjoy sticky-rice cake festival

      The traditional “chung” and sticky-rice cake festival, held yesterday at the temple of Doc Cuoc in Sam Son town, Thanh Hoa Province, drew thousands of local people and tourists.
After the opening ceremony, seven teams from local districts started cooking cakes made of glutinous rice.
The competition, not for a prize, wishes good crops and healthy people for the whole year.
As a traditional cultural festival, this yearly event, often organised on the twelfth day of May of the lunar year, is meaningful for the people’s spiritual life, and helps attract more tourists to Sam Son.
