Korean Sachoom performance tour to Vietnam

      One of the three famous performance art troupes of the Republic of Korea Sachoom will make a tour through Vietnam from June 18 to July 5.
As a kind of non-verbal performance art, Nanta caught the attention of viewers with their rhythmic sounds and music, Jump is favourite by audience with its skillful taekwondo sport moves, Sachoom will surprise fans with dance moves.
Sachoom, the abbreviation of “Dance When You are in Love'' in Korean, is a dancical. The organisers explained that the performance has the elements of a musical, while the overall performance is centred on various dance repertoires.
Sachoom follows a story line that depicts the love, friendship and passion of three close friends.
It starts with the friendship of two boys and a girl named Eun, Jun and Seon. One boy, however, finds that he is the least talented dancer among his friends. Determined to become one of the top dancers, he struggles to catch his peers' attention.
The audience can enjoy diverse and sensational dance moves rooted in tango, hip-hop, modern, traditional and even jazz dance. Divided into nine sections, each part shows distinctive styles and will surely wow the visitors.
Sachoom is now the Korea’s No 1 “dance-cal,” (Dance + Musical = Dance-cal) which is a performance without dialogue, expressing itself through dance and songs.
The show breaks down the barriers between the actors and the audience, as normally by the end of the show the audience is up on their feet and dancing along.
Sachoom premiered in 2004 and has been onstage more than 700 times for the last three and a half years before it opened his own theatre last May. It toured around 40 cities in RoK and also headed overseas to broaden their audience.
Sachoom ranked the first among 2,000 performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2008 . Also last year, Sachoom won the first prize at the third ‘Korea in motion non-verbal festival’ held by the RoK Tourism Organisation.
Sachoom will give performance at Hanoi Friendship Palace from June 18-21; at the Trung Vuong Theatre in Da Nang from June 26-28 and Hoa Binh Theatre in Ho Chi Minh City from July 2-5.
The performance tour of Sachoom is jointly organised by the Korean Cultural Centre in Hanoi, Hanoi Cultural Foundation, Insight Vietnam Company and Do–Be–Com Company from RoK.
