Vietnam’s first tourist resort recognised by Green Globe
The Phan Thiet Novotel Tourist
Resort in central Binh Thuan province has just been recognised by the Green
Globe International to achieve a certificate from Green Global, the Provincial
Culture, Sports and Tourism Department said on June 7th.
The Phan Thiet Novotel has become the first Vietnamese tourist resort receiving
such recognition.
To achieve certified status from Green Globe, tourist service companies must
meet a series of environmental protection requirements, including good policies
and performances regarding waste treatment, pollution reduction, energy saving
measures, with a clean and safe water supply.
In September 2008, the Phan Thiet Novotel and other local tourist resorts signed
with Green Globe. Accordingly, they would commit to protect the environment as
well as complying with strict regulations set by the international organisation.
Provincial tourism manager Lam Quang Hien said that a number of other provincial
hotels and tourist resorts are planning to register themselves with Green Globe
and strive for certificates.
A certificate of Green Globe means a commitment from a hotel or tourist resort
for environmental protection on one hand, and helps the business to universally
promote its image on the other.
