Misses World brighten up Nha Trang carnival
In sea blue ao dai, with
crystals, Miss World 2008 and Miss World 2004 stood in a flower-decorated car
featuring the Nereid and waved to thousands of spectators who attended the Nha
Trang carnival on June 9 in the evening.
The two beauty queens and Miss Indonesia 2009, who posed in a yellow ao dai
decorated with dragon patterns, were cheered by the Vietnamese crowds. Their
presence in Vietnamese ao dai made the carnival more beautiful.
Thousands of dancers and amateur artists joined the carnival, highlighting the
changes in Nha Trang from its beginning days as a series of small fishing
villages to the city of today.
Held at 2/4 Square, Tran Phu Street, the carnival was a part of the Nha Trang
Sea Festival 2009 and the closing event of the US-based RAAS group’s “Charity
Footprint” programme, which ran from May 26 to June 9 throughout many provinces
of Vietnam.
At the carnival, RAAS director Hoang Kieu announced that the Miss World
Organization will kick off the Miss World 2010 in Vietnam with “Ambassador
Night” in Hanoi. The final and crowning ceremony will take place in Nha Trang
and after that another celebration will be held in HCM City.
The Miss World 2010 pageant, with around 130 representatives from all over the
world, will have many activities in Ha Long, Hue, Da Nang and Can Tho to
advertise Vietnam to the world.
