Tourism Administration tells travel agents to avoid A/H1N1-infected countries
The Vietnam National
Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has asked local tourism firms to reduce the
number of tours to or temporarily stop sending tourists to countries where the
super flu is spreading under the warning of the Vietnamese Health Ministry and
the World Health Organization (WHO).
VNAT’s vice head Nguyen Manh Cuong asked local departments of culture, sports
and tourism, travel firms and hotels to quickly inform their foreign partners
about the current situation of A/H1N1 flu in Vietnam so they will feel assured
about sending tourists to Vietnam.
The official asked hotels and tourism service providers to strictly obey the
rules on hygiene to prevent A/H1N1 flu.
The VNAT recommended that tourism firms temporarily stop sending tourists or
limit the number sent to flu-stricken countries to prevent the transmission of
the dangerous disease to Vietnam. They also instructed them to strictly monitor
the health of foreign tourists who come from countries with the super flu.
The number of foreign visitors coming to Vietnam dropped by 18.8 percent in the
January-May period of this year.
