2009 national traditional junior martial art tourney opens

      The 10th national traditional junior martial art tournament began in the central province of Quang Ngai on June 13.
The event drew the participation of 230 athletes, including 91 female, from 26 provinces and cities across the country. They are competing in eight weight categories, ranging from 42-68kg for male athletes and from 42-57kg for female athletes. The artists are between the ages of 6 and 17, and are divided into four groups: 6-8 year olds, 9-11 year olds, 12-14 year olds and 15-17 year olds.
According to the organising board, the tournament aims to promote physical training among people following the late President Ho Chi Minh’s example, as well as boosting the teaching and training of traditional martial arts.
The competition will last until June 19.
