Exploring Nguoi Xua Grotto in Huong Son Tourist Area
Nestled at the end of a small
valley amidst mountains in Huong Son Tourists Area, Nguoi Xua (Ancient People)
Grotto promises to give many surprises for travelers. Huong Son Area is located
in My Duc district, about 70 kilometers from the center of Hanoi.
The tourist area covers an area of a thousand hectares and includes a complex of
mountains, rivers and streams, villages, pagodas and grottoes surrounded by the
Huong Tich Mountain Range, north of the Truong Son Range.
Conquering one more kilometer of mountainous trail after reaching Huong Son
Tourist Area, we, accompanied with Pham Van Toa, guard as well as guide in this
area, got to the place where ancestors sheltered down. Inside the Nguoi Xua
Grotto, there are many fossil relics filled with vestiges of prehistoric man.
Images of lions, tigers and eagles depicted on the stone wall of the mountain
make the tourists’ journey worthy to discover.
The festive time is over, so the grotto is more deserted but the tranquility
here recalls to us the past.
Huong Son Area has a lot of attractions of streams, pagodas and grottoes. Yen
Stream which flows between two mountains for 3 kilometers is full of boats
carrying pilgrims who have come to enjoy the landscape of Huong Son in the
festive season. There are many pagodas worth visiting such as Thien Tru, Long
Van, Giai Oan, Tien Son and Huong Tich.
Inside Tien Son pagoda and grotto there are multi-forms of stalactites and music
can be made by knocking on several of these stalactites. Long Van Pagoda,
surrounded by white clouds all year round, is situated on the slope of a
mountain half on An Son Mountain and half in the forest. The Long Van Grotto
found in 1920 though small, creates mixed feelings for its visitors.
Tuyet Pagoda, Phu Yen Temple and Bao Dai Co Sat are popular sanctuaries for
pilgrims to worship Buddha.
The tour continues to Ngoc Long Grotto, which is not very large but has a unique
style. The stalactites and stalagmites look like the nests of dragons. The best
attraction is a statue of Bodhisattva of Mercy with her tender and kind-hearted
face sculpted in the cliff.
In Huong Son Tourist Area, tourists can take boat trips drifting down rivers and
lakes to admire splendid landscapes and lessen daily worries and stresses.
Nguoi Xua Grotto is worthy of more investment and is a must-see destination in
Hanoi.
