The dance of Tay ethnic minority group
Tay ethnic minority group in Ta Chai commune, Bac Ha district, the northeastern mountainous province of Lao Cai held Long Tong festival in the first day of the lunar new year to praise for a peaceful homeland and an abundant crop.
After traditional rituals in the early morning, diverse culture and sports activities and folk games were held during the festival, drawing the participation of thousands of local people and tourists to Bac Ha kermis.
The dance of Tay ethnic minority group from Ta Chai commune and folk songs left deep impression in people to Long Tong festival.
Over the past 50 years, the dance troupe from the commune has participated in many national and regional non-professional art performances and won many prizes, said Lam Thi Hien, a cadre from Ta Chai commune.
According to heads of villages in Ta Chai commune, in the past, this dance only served a family that was richest and most powerful in the Bac Ha mountainous area. Now, every one can enjoy in this dance during festivals in the homeland.
Ta Chai commune is near Bac Ha tourism center where attract millions of foreign and domestic visitors each year. This traditional dance has been preserved and promoted in a new condition.
