Wootung trees, the guards of Hue royal palaces
Wootung trees blossom from the
second to the sixth month of the lunar year in the royal palaces of the ancient
capital city of Hue.
According to history books, Wootung trees were brought from China to Hue during
the King Minh Mang dynasty. Trees were first planted near Can Chanh palace and
then they were grown around the royal citadel.
Hue is the only place in Vietnam which has Wootung trees. Coming to the city
these days, visitors can see beautiful Wootung flowers in the yard of Can Chanh
palace. The oldest and most beautiful Wootung tree is located next to Ta Vu
house in this palace.
Young Wootung trees are planted in the tombs of Kings Thieu Tri, Minh Mang and
Tu Duc. The highest trees are in the Tu Tuong and Thuong Bac parks.
If you go to Hue, go and see Wootung trees!.
