“Creative Economies” photo exhibition in Hanoi
The exhibition is showcasing
over 60 photos by 23 photographers from 18 Asian and European countries,
including Vietnam’s Nguyen Thanh Hai.
“Creative Economies”, which looks at the various ways in which Asian and
European societies re-imagine and reflect on embedded economic systems, is the
result of the Asia-Europe Photographers‘ Forum 2009, held in Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia, in May.
These photographs explore creative means of sustainability through traditional
subsistence economies, creative communities and social cooperation.
Photo stories displayed at the exhibition reflect the sharp looks of
photographers. Sweden’s Rafaela Persson’s photos tell about the lives of 15
Afghanistan female athletes aged 12-18 at the Olympic Kabul stadium. Not long
ago, the stadium was the site where women who violated Taliban rules were
killed.
Markel Redondo tells the story about a small town named Espera in Spain, where
sometimes up to 80 percent of construction workers are unemployed. Adam Adamus
from Poland contributes photos about craftsmen in Warsaw in the time of
recession.
The exhibition will last until June 29 at the Goethe Institute at 56 Nguyen Thai
Hoc, Hanoi.
