Researcher compiles capital encyclopedia about Ha Noi
The book 1,000 Years of Thang
Long-Ha Noi, written by the Ha Noi researcher Nguyen Vinh Phuc, was recently
published by the Tre (Young) Publishing House.
This (1000 pages) book could be considered a Ha Noi Wikipedia, providing readers
with precise and detailed information on the capital city, including newly
merged areas.
The book is divided into seven sections: geography, history, culture,
literature, celebrities, President Ho Chi Minh and the economy.
The book not only covers information about the natural geographic features,
history and culture of Thang Long-Ha Noi but also its economy, and culture. The
information is presented simply and reasonably, enabling readers to find
information easily.
Author Nguyen Vinh Phuc some of the information has been publicised for the
first time.
For example, distinguishing provides arrurats historical information: Thang Long
tu tran was established in Ly dynasty, the books says. Readers can find
information on the history of Hom and Duoi markets, the first high school, the
first private school and the first university in Ha Noi.
At the 990th anniversary of the foundation of Thang Long-Ha Noi, Phuc introduced
five volumes with over 400 questions and answers about Ha Noi. In the last 10
years, he has been researching more information on Ha Noi.
As the result, 1,000 Years of Thang Long-Ha Noi, answers nearly 1,000 questions,
and is being published at a time when the whole country is building up to
celebrate 1000 years of Thang Long-Ha Noi.
However, the author said he regretted not writing an index of geographic names
and celebrities that could help readers look for information more conveniently.
