Vietnam, Cambodia tighten youth cooperation

      The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) and the Youth Association of Cambodia (YAC) have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation for the 2009-2010 period.
The signing took place during a five-day official friendship visit to Cambodia by the HCMCYU Central Committee Permanent Secretary Lam Phuong Thanh.
Under the MoU, both sides will share information and experiences in youth work and activities through the exchange of visits and participation in each other’s important events.
Both sides agreed to propose to their leaders the organisation of a Vietnam-Cambodia youth friendship exchange programme on both national and provincial levels.
They also reached unanimity in encouraging localities, especially border provinces, to cooperate in organising friendship activities for their young people.
While in Cambodia from June 27 to July 1, Thanh held a working session with YAC Central Committee standing member Men Kuon in which they discussed joint activities to promote mutual understanding and friendship exchange between the two organisations.
The Vietnamese delegation also visited Kandal and Siem Reap provinces and held working sessions with local youth leaders.
