Over 10 trillion VND needed for Cam Ranh Int’l Airport
More than 10 trillion VND (555
million USD) will be needed to develop the Cam Ranh International Airport in
central Khanh Hoa province between now and 2030.
Under a recently-approved plan, the Cam Ranh International Airport will become a
4E-grade airport under the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)
standard and a first-class military airfield.
By 2020, the 658 ha airport is designed to have 32 landing places which will be
capable of receiving 27 aeroplanes at the same time.
The airport is also expected to handle around 5.5 million passengers and 100,000
tonnes of cargo per year.
In addition, passenger and cargo terminals and an ICAO-standardised fire control
centre will be built on an area of 2,940 sq.m plus a four-lane road system and a
127,000 sq.m auto parking area.
By 2030, the airport will be capable of handling 37 aeroplanes at the same time
and 8 million passengers and 200,000 tonnes of cargo per year.
Formerly a military airfield, the Cam Ranh International Airport was upgraded
into a civilian airport in 2004 and an international airport in 2007.
