Thai Parliament President votes for Ha Long Bay
Thai Parliament President and
Speaker of the House of Representatives Chai Chidchob said Ha Long should be
chosen as one of the world’s new seven natural wonders on his visit to the World
Heritage site in Quang Ninh province on July 22.
The tour of Ha Long Bay followed Chidchob’s meeting with Vietnamese National
Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong on July 21.
At the reception for the Thai Parliamentary delegation, Le Thi Bich Huong, Vice
Chairwoman of the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee, informed the guests
about local socio-economic development, particularly potential for ship building
and mineral exploitation.
On July 21, Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay, which was twice recognised by UNESCO for its
beautiful landscapes and geological uniqueness, ranks 12th among the 28 nominees
in terms of votes, according to the NewOpenWorld website.
