HCM City to not raise museum entrance fees
HCM City authorities have
announced they will not increase entrance fees to local museums.
According to the city’s Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, museums are allowed
to keep100 percent of entrance fees to invest in museum activities.
The HCM City People’s Committee instructed the local Department of Finance to
combine with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to set reasonable
entrance fees for museums.
Accordingly, the fees for local and foreign visitors must not be too different.
There will be exemptions and reductions for Vietnamese visitors based on age,
social class and health conditions (war invalids or the disabled).
A decree of the Finance Ministry dated October 2006 said that the entrance fees
to relics must be the same for Vietnamese and foreigners. The fees must not
exceed 20,000 dong for adults and 10,000 dong for kids.
