2009 Hoi An-Japan festival to open
Days of Japan’s Cultural
Exchange in Vietnam, the seventh of its kind, will be held in the ancient city
of Hoi An and Cu lao Cham (Cham Island) from August 14th to 16th.
The festival is coincided with the tenth anniversary of recognition of Hoi An as
a World Cultural Heritage.
As scheduled, a number of cultural exchanges will take place during the
festival, such as Vietnamese culture space, photo exhibition of 6 previous
festivals, a seminar on environment, Vietnam’s glutinous rice beating festival,
cherry blossom growing and Japanese cuisine.
In addition, several professional art troupes and artists from Japan and
Vietnam, including Gypsy Queen band, singer My Linh and pianist Higuchi Ayuko,
will also take part in the event.
The Japan Festival will take place in the evening of August 15th at the Hoai
River Square, with an artistic programme to show the Japanese culture.
On this occasion, Hoi An will hold a ceremony to receive UNESCO’s certificate
recognizing Cu lao Cham as the World’s Biosphere Reserve.
