Vietnam-Japan cultural days to pulse the world heritage
A cultural festival called
‘Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange days’ will take place in Hoi An ancient city
and Cu Lao Cham, or Cham Islet, from August 14-16, with three famous artist
troupes from Japan and over 30 artistic units and 200 artists and artisans from
Vietnam.
The festival opens at 7:30 p.m. at Hoai River Square. On the next day, at the
square, the event will seduce tourists with a series of artistic performances
including tap dance, a traditional Japanese traditional drum show, a performance
by pianist Higuchi Ayuko and a kimono fashion show. Vietnamese singers will sit
in with the band Gypsy Queen. Exhibitions, a Japanese tea ceremony, a
traditional Vietnamese Dong Son Bronze Drum performance and ethnic musical
instruments will also feature.
This event also marks the 10th anniversary of Hoi An as a world culture heritage
site. Local authorities in Hoi An City will organize a ceremony to receive a
certificate from UNESCO recognizing Cu Lao Cham as a World Biosphere Reserve.
The festival will wrap up on Cham Islet at 8 p.m. on August 16.
