Binh Thuan earns VND1, 000 billion from tourism

In the first seven months of 2009, the central province of Binh Thuan welcomed around 1.3 million domestic and international visitors, an increase of 12% over the same period last year. The tourism sector also contributed VND1, 000 billion to the provincial budget, up by 32% in comparison with the same period of the previous year.
Over 1.1 million domestic tourists visited the province in the last 7 months, a 10% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile the number of international tourists also rose by 30%, said Le Thi Thanh Lien, Vice Director of Binh Thuan’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Despite this increase during the past seven months, the growth rate is still 20% less than the previous year’s figure, Lien added.
