Vietnam Airlines to open new route to Japan
The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VA)
will open a direct route linking Hanoi and Fukuoka in southern Japan, where
Vietnam’s third Consulate General is located, to mark the 55th anniversary of
Hanoi Liberation Day (October 10).
The airline plans to operate two flights every Tuesday and Saturday, using
Airbus 320 to help reduce the travel time between the two cities to 4 hours.
VA will reduce the number of Ho Chi Minh City-Fukuoka flights to 2 per week.
Fukuoka city is one of the six largest cities in Japan with an area of 1,166
sq.km and a population of 1.42 million. It is an economic and scientific centre
for Japan’s south-western region, hosting world-renowned automakers such as
Toyota, Kyushu, Nissan and Daihatsu.
It is also home to 2,000 technological businesses and 600 semi-conductor
producers.
During his visit to Japan in April this year, Party General Secretary Nong Duc
Manh attended the opening ceremony of the Vietnamese Consulate General in
Fukuoka.
