Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Hanoi aiming at popularising
tourist destinations, services, tours of the City.
Trying to pupularise the city’s image in source markets, HCMC’s tourism sector
has participated in various national promotional campaigns under the umbrella of
the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism within the country or abroad, or

In 2009, the HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also coordinated
with the HCMC Tourism Association to host a conference on implementing solutions
to tourism development with the participation of over 400 travel firms and
tourism-related enterprises in the area. The conference introduced various
stimulus activities as special offers in the framework of the VNAT’s “Impressive
Vietnam”, “HCMC – 100 interesting things”, and other national and international
promotional events.
Along with those above activities, the City Department has moved on to improve
its tourist products, mount the Standard Tourism Services with the participation
of more than 60 businesses in shopping and eating and drinking. The recognition
of standard tourism services would boost the link between customer catering
activities and travel sector in the city.
At the roadshow, Deputy Director of the City’ Department of Culture, Sports and
Tourism La Quoc Khanh said the tourism sector is preparing to respond to the
1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi and the National Tourism Year – 2010 in
Hanoi by the following cultural and festive activities: “Troi Nam thuong nho dat
Thang Long” (The South misses ancient capital of Thang Long), Thang Long Cuisine
Festival in the South. These festivals will reappear cultural features, daily
life, cuisine specialties of the Northern people through countryside markets,
communal house’s festivals, xam, xoan and quan ho singing, ancestors’ death
anniversaries, weddings… performed by artisans from the North.
A tour guide contest will also be organised in the framework of cooperation
between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
