Ten London taxis sporting images of Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay and Vietnamese ladies in ao dai will travel around London from September 3 to celebrate Vietnam’s Independence Day.
“The first London taxi appeared 100 years ago and has become an integral symbol of this capital so it made sense to promote our national image through the London taxi network,” Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Tran Quang Hoan said on UK Ambassador to Vietnam Mark Kent’s blog on Thursday.
“Imagine ten taxis carrying images of Ha Long Bay and Vietnamese women in traditional Vietnamese dresses to every corner of the old City of London, bringing Vietnam closer to ten of thousands of Londoners and tourists,” he said.
The Embassy is implementing another Vietnam promotion campaign through the BBC and other mass media, he said, adding it is working with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports of Vietnam to support Vietnamese artists to organize cultural days in the UK.
Hoan said the on Vietnam’s Independence Day, September 2, the Embassy will hold a host of cultural and sporting activities to engage with the Vietnamese community in the UK.
