Tourist arrivals up 40 percent thanks to stimulus

Around 1,844 people in Ho Chi Minh City booked air tickets for tours of the northern and central regions through a promotion by the Vietnam Airlines in August, up 40 percent compared to July.
To attract domestic tourists in September, Ho Chi Minh City continues to reduce prices. For instance, services for tours of Sa Pa, Ha Long, Hue and Hoi An were decreased by 5-10 percent compared to August. Vietnam Airlines will also reduce single tickets from VND1.06 million to VND810,000 on the Saigon-Hue-Da Nang route.
On the occasion, the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Tourism Association launched the “One day at a five-star hotel” programme to attract more visitors. Vietnamese citizens booking rooms from September 1 to October 31 will enjoy special discounts.
