Quang Nam builds new bridge
Construction of the Cua Dai bridge spanning the
Thu Bon river kicked off on August 30 in the central province of Quang Nam in
the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
“The bridge is important to Quang Nam ’s socio-economic development,” PM Dung
emphasised at the ground-breaking ceremony, praising local people who had given
their land for the bridge, which is the biggest investment project in the
locality so far.
Estimated to cost nearly 2.5 trillion VND, the Cua Dai bridge is designed to
have a total length of 18.3 km, including 1.48 km crossing over the Thu Bon
river.
Once completed, the bridge will serve as a strategic transportation route for
Quang Nam province in particular and the central region in general.
It is part of a trans-national coastal land route plan tailored by the
Government in a bid to establish a trans-regional transportation corridor
linking Quang Nam’s eastern area with the central city of Da Nang, the ancient
town of Hoi An, and other major economic zones nearby.
Earlier on August 29, Quang Nam authorities welcomed PM Dung and other
Government officials to the My Son relic site in the locality which has been
recognised as a world cultural heritage.
