Da Lat builds flower-shaped square
The resort city of Da Lat in the Central Highlands
province of Lam Dong on August 31 began construction of its central square at
the cost of 274 billion dong (US$16.1 million).
This is the biggest work invested in by the state budget in Da Lat since the
city became a first-grade city this March.
The central square will go with the Da Lat Art Palace, which will look like a
flower, with the roof as the pistil, grand stands as petals and the zone for
organising fairs and exhibitions the flower bud.
Da Lat’s central square will be located on the right of Xuan Huong Lake, a
famous landscape in the city, on a total of 23.5 hectares of land. The square
will cover the current Lam Vien practice field and the Da Lat stadium to Yersin
Park.
The central square will comprise four major complexes: a theatre, a park, a
square and an exhibition centre, which can host up to 60,000 people.
Construction will take 36 months.
“This is the symbolic work of Da Lat city,” said Da Lat’s Chairman Doan Van Viet
during the ground-breaking ceremony.
