Vietnam harbours advantages for tourism development
Vietnam harbours huge advantages in landscapes,
old-age culture, favourable climate and hospitable people for developing the
hospitality industry, a senior tourism Mexican official has said.
Apart from that, the Vietnamese Government shows its seriousness in developing
the tourism sector as reflected in the national economic development strategy,
emphasised Rafael Chavez Ortega, Vice Director General of the Mexico Tourism
Promotion Council’s Asian representative office while talking with the Thoi Bao
Kinh Te Vietnam (Vietnam Economic Times).
However, the Mexican official pointed to the weaknesses the Vietnamese tourism
sector is still struggling on the path to develop further.
One of those is that a tourism development policy cannot be put in place quickly
so this costs the tourism sector dear, the Mexican official commented.
He also mentioned a lack of training of professional tourist guides, suggesting
professional training be provided for local people to enable them to work as
pro-tourist guides when needed.
He affirmed that his government will assist businesses who are interested in
investing in Vietnam with the policies it applied for other countries that have
proven to be effective.
Stressing the Mexican Tourism Promotion Council is not an agency in charge of
the two countries’ bilateral tourism cooperation, but, he said, the council can
introduce a tourism promotion programme to Vietnam for consideration and
application in reality if it finds the programme suitable.
