Vietnamese Chefs contest 2009 kicks off

A cooking contest under the theme “Vietnamese Chef 2009” is underway from Sep 24 to 26 at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi, as part of the Viethotel Festival 2009, launched by the Hanoi Professional Chef Club and AMB company.
The contest attracted chefs from famous hotels and restaurants in Hanoi such as Hilton Hanoi Opera, Melia Hanoi, Daewoo Hanoi, Sofitel Metropole Hanoi, Fortuna Hanoi, Horison Hanoi, Hoa Sua School and Golden Apple Centre.
The event, part of the celebration of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi, is designed to challenge cooking talents to highlight Hanoi’s cuisine through a food decoration contest entitled “Thang Long’s colours”, and a variety dish contest entitled “Hanoi – Past and Present”. Participants will also compete in preparing European dishes under the theme “Black Box”.
The Hanoi Professional Chef Club has 300 members and it is expected that the activity will help introduce Vietnamese food and promote the city’s tourism.
