Int’l water-skiing tournament benefits kids
Vietnam Fun Cup concluded on
February 21 in southern Binh Thuan Province with organisers’ announcement that
all the fees collected from athletes will go to orphans and disabled children.
The tournament, that drew 35 skiers from 11 countries, witnessed the victory of
Chris Pressler from Austria in men’s category, who thrashed many big names to
win the first place. Vietnam’s Nguyen Thanh Dong and Nguyen Thanh Tam arrived
second and third, respectively, while the fourth prize went to Remi Vila from
France.
In regards to women’s categorty, Sandra Wolf of Germany snatched the first prize
and her runner-up was Sylvier of France. Aussies Derstin Reiger and Lucy Maher
won the third and fourth places, respectively.
A display tournament on bare-foot water-skiing was also held with the
participation of famous foreign skiers, thus attracting a large number of
foreign spectators who were enjoying holidays in Phan Thiet Town.
Organisers from the Jibe’s Beach Club said charges paid by participating skiers
would be sent to an orphanage and a school for disabled and visually-impaired
children in Ham Tan District, Binh Thuan Province.
