Vietnam announces 2010 as National Tourism Year
A ceremony to kick off Vietnam National Tourism
Year 2010 will be held at Ly Thai To Flower Garden in Hanoi on October 10, said
Nguyen Khac Loi, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and
Tourism.
At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister will hand over a flag to Hanoi, the
event’s host, and beat a drum to open the special Year.
Lots of activities have been planned in Hanoi, including a tour guide
competition, a food festival and a festival of Thang Long-Hanoi 2010
International Tourism.
Hanoi will coordinate with other countries to organise over 30 tourism
activities including a flower festival, an exhibition of Bat Trang pottery, a
kite flying festival and a marathon for peace, the celebration of the 1,000th
anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi and participation in the Travex Fair at the
Asian Tourism Forum in Brunei.
As part of the ceremony, a UNESCO resolution on the 1,000th anniversary of Thang
Long-Hanoi will be proclaimed, according to Do Dinh Hong, Deputy Chief of the
Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee Secretariat.
