Exhibition to praise Hanoi traditional craft villages
An exhibition to praise Hanoi’s traditional craft
villages will be co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and
Hanoi City People’s Committee from October 6 to 10, featuring various activities
to honour Hanoian artists and traditional crafts.
This is part of activities to prepare for the Thang Long Craft villages and
guilds festival at the 1000th national anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.
The exhibition will include a display of typical craft products of Hanoian
artists, artefacts from the traditional craft villages, and introduction to some
artefacts from Hanoi traditional craft villages.
The exhibition will feature some 400 art works, selected from the typical art
works of Hanoi artists, in wood crafting, pottery, weaving, lacquer painting,
mother of pearl in-lay, etc. Pictures about the traditional craft villages are
also on display.
The exhibition area on artefacts from craft villages also introduces about 400
artefacts, from silverware, bronze products, wooden products, silk and various
scientific researches. The area is organised by the Vietnam History Museum and
the UNESCO Centre for Vietnam’s artefact research and preservation.
The exhibition will centerstage about 400 typical products by the contemporary
artists from Van Phuc silk weaving village, Chuyen My mother-of-pearl in-lay
village, Phu Nghia Rattan village, Bat Trang Pottery village, etc. the artists
will perform actual works for visitors’ viewing.
There will also be a calligraphy exhibition with 50 works by the Vietnam
Calligraphy Club, which kicks off the Vietnam Calligraphy Festival. During this
festival, best works will be selected and awarded during the 2010 New Year
Festival.
