Festival honoring Red River Delta’s culture scheduled in Thai Binh
A cultural, sports and tourism festival will be
held for the first time in the Red River Delta province of Thai Binh from
October 14-16 that will gather all provinces in the region.
According to Vice Chairwoman of Thai Binh province Cao Thi Hai, preparations
have been completed, and the province is ready for the big day. The opening
ceremony will be a showcase of the region’s unique cultural identity
Under the theme “Delta’s region culture – Mother’s silt - Convergence and
enlightenment”, numerous activities will be held such as a photography
exhibition featuring the countryside and people of the Red River Delta
provinces, an agriculture contest for farmers, a sports tournaments and folk
games.
A seminar on developing tourism in the Red River Delta region will be held along
with a meeting to review the 20-year construction of a cultural village in
northern Vietnam.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, more than 300 local
farmers and 2000 others from ten northern provinces and cities including Bac
Ninh, Hanoi, Ha Nam, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thai
Binh and Vinh Phuc will take part in the event.
As it is home to a large population of the country, the Red River Delta region
abounds with human resources and skilled workers, which has resulted in the
local market having a strong purchasing power. It has an old age history, many
festivals, historical sites and traditional handicraft villages.
Together with the Mekong Delta region, the country’s largest granary, it always
plays a key role in the nation’s socio-economic development strategy.
Thai Binh province’s leader Cao Thi Hai stressed that this will be a big event
to advertise for the cultural and tourism potential of the regional provinces,
including Thai Binh. It will also foster regional cooperation, and contribute to
activities to mark the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.
