Hanoi’s craft villages honored
About 400 antiques, from Vietnamese traditional
craft villages, will be displayed and introduced at an exhibition in the Vietnam
Culture and Arts Center that aims to honor Hanoi’s traditional craft villages.
The event, which will open on October 6th and close on October 10th, is to
celebrate the Liberation Day of the Capital City of Hanoi.
The exhibition is jointly organized by the Vietnam Museum of History and the
UNESCO Center for research and preservation of Vietnamese antiques.
According to organizers, life at Hanoi’s traditional craft villages will be
revived during the event. Especially, craftsmen at Van Phuc silk weaving village
will demonstrate all phases of their traditional silk textile, including
traditional textile secrets.
A fine arts and handicraft invention contest, aiming to celebrate the 1000th
Anniversary of Thang Long-Ha Noi, will also be launched on October 9th.
