Traditional works In My Nghiep Village
My Nghiep brocade village in the southeast of Phan
Rang, in Ninh Phuoc district, Ninh Thuan province is famous for its handmade tho
cam (ethnic fabric). Tourists come here to see women weave fabric by their
traditional ways.
The village has around 20 shops. All of them have looms, fiber and products such
as headscarves, clothes, sarongs, wallets, purses, handbags and more.
Visiting the shops, visitors can hear traditional Cham music. Women weave tho
cam upon request. Most of the fiber is not hand-made because it takes too long
and the work is very hard.
The local government has sponsored the construction of a large house in My
Nghiep brocade village which will be used to exhibit traditional works of the
village in the near future.
