Direct air routes from Hanoi and HCM City to Damark's Copenhagen

Denmark’s Copenhagen International Airport says it wants to open direct air routes from Hanoi and HCM City to Copenhagen.
Tran Nguyen, public relations director of Business Studies and Assistance Centre (BSA), said the plan was revealed by Ulv Elbirk, Development Director of Asia, Africa and Middle East of Copenhagen International Airport development director during the BSA’s working session in Denmark earlier this week.
He said two years ago, Copenhagen airport began negotiating with Vietnam’s national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines over the air route. However, as yet no agreements have been reached.
However Ulv stresses that Vietnam is a market with great potential for Danish and Northern European businesses.
He estimates there are some 45,000 Vietnamese people living in Scandinavia, including Sweden, Finland, Norwegian and Denmark. It was also estimated that some 10,000 people flew to Vietnam in the first half of the year.
Some 80,000 passengers will fly between Northeastern Europe and Vietnam a year, and the figure will keep rising.
Currently, Thai Airways is the only airline in Asia which provides flights connecting Vietnam and Denmark.
However, according to Ulv, residents in the Northeastern Europe do not consider Thailand as an attractive destination. A lot of people prefer Vietnam to Thailand.
Ulv hopes negotiations with Vietnam Airlines will be boosted by an official Royal visit in early November.
In a press release delivered earlier this week from Danish Embassy, during the trip, usinesses from Vietnam and Denmark will seek partnerships in the fields of clean technology, maritime industry, information technology, communications, airport equipment and services, and meat processing technology.
