VNAT and international consultants discuss on tourist product development
On October 8th, a working session between the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and international consultants on tourist product development chaired by VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Van Tuan was held in Hanoi.
Mr. Moon Kyoo Kim, an expert of Strategic Think Tank (STT), appraised prominent tourism potentials of Hanoi and recommended some ideas for tourism product development as well as linking some tourist destinations, forming attractive tourist routes in Hanoi. Experiences in master planning of some big cities as Seoul (South Korea), Shanghai (China) and Ha Long (Vietnam) were also shared.
According to Kim, the capital city of Hanoi, preparing for the 1000th birthday, boasts various valuable cultural features which, however, have not been developed into attractive tourist products. He presented ideas to develop some typical tourist routes, e.g Heritage Route: from Hanoi Ancient Citadel or Hoan Kiem Lake to Van Mieu (Temple of Literature), Tran Quoc Pagoda, the Old Quarter, President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum…; French-Architecture Buildings Route: along Le Hong Phong and Tran Phu Streets to Hanoi Opera House, Sofitel Metropole Hotel… These routes will be comprehensively combined with eating and drinking, shopping, entertainment & leisure services, traditional cultural performance activities, traffic system, signs and instructions…
Kim made preliminary analysis of and compared advantages of Hanoi on tourism development with those of some other cities in the region.
Chairman Nguyen Van Tuan highly appreciated Mr. Moon Kyoo Kim’s ideas on tourist product development. In order to draw more tourists and gain higher effectiveness in tourism performance, in-depth research is needed to form detailed projects, turning available potentials into fascinating tourist products. Joint effort and determination of relevant agencies, especially leaders of Hanoi authority are an essential base for Hanoi tourism development. Hanoi tourism will successfully develop appropriate to its potentials, he believed.
