Vietnamese American businessman wish to build a park for the city’s 1000th anniversary
A Vietnamese American businessman has expressed his wish to build a park as a present for the city’s 1000th anniversary.
Khoat Van Tran, manager of the US-based Keystone company, has recently proposed to build a park named Su Van Hanh for the city.
According to Tran, Hanoi still lacks a work to honor Buddhist monk Van Hanh, who is credited with the decision to move Vietnam’s capital from Hoa Lu (Ninh Binh at present) to Dai La (Hanoi).
Tran wants to build a park named after Van Hanh with a 10 metre statue of Van Hanh at a cost of around $1 million.
In a petition sent to the Hanoi People’s Committee, Tran asked to build the park on 1.6ha of land in Quang An ward, Tay Ho District.
He said the park will deliver the message: “The younger generations owe the forefather who contributed to the existence and prosperity of the country”.
Tay Ho district planned to develop a park on the above-mentioned piece of land and the district is seeking a suitable investor. Tran is awaiting the Hanoi government’s answer for this project.
“It is not difficult to implement this project, except for time. Only one year left for the 1000th great anniversary. I need only six months for the construction but I’m not sure about the time for fulfilling administrative procedures,” Tran told VietNamNet.
