Eight gong troupes from Kon Tum to participate in international gong festival
Kon Tum province will send 8 gong troupes from 6
ethnic minority groups in the province, including 166 artisans, to participate
in the international gong festival to be held in the Central Highlands province
of Gia Lai. They will perform gongs in the great festivals of their ethnic
minority groups.
According to director of Kon Tum provincial Department of Culture, Sports and
Tourism, Bui Thi Thanh Van, apart from artisans, 50 heads of villages in the
province will also attend the festival.
Over the past month, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism
has cooperated with the provincial People’s Committee and departments of
culture, sports and tourism in various districts to gather gong troupes in
localities to practice performances.
There are 300 gong troupes of ethnic minority groups in the province, with
nearly 1800 sets of gongs.
