Viet Nam ask UNESCO to fund reservation of its ancient citadel
The PM just agreed that the project "Reservation
of the cultural heritage site of Thang Long-Ha Noi" conducted by the People’s
Committee of Ha Noi will be included in the list of projects to be financed by
UNESCO. The project will receive a non-refundable aid of US $1,124,721. The Ha
Noi People’s Committee will allocate a counterpart funding of US $93,198 from
its own budget.
The Committee is assigned to set up, approve and sign annual work plans (AWP),
implement the master plan and cooperation projects with UN organizations which
were ratified by the PM.
In early 2009, the profile on the Thang Long-Ha Noi Imperial Citadel was
submitted to the UNESCO Committee of World Heritages for the recognition of the
site as a world culture heritage.
The Thang Long-Ha Noi Imperial Citadel is a ten-century historical site. The
site covers 18,395 m2, at 18 Hoang Dieu Street, Ba Dinh District, Ha Noi.
