Enjoying buffalo stabbing ceremony in Mo Hra village
Thousands of visitors to the International Gong
Festival 2009 in Gia Lai flocked to the Ve Nguon tourist site in Pleiku city on
November 14 to watch the buffalo stabbing ceremony of Mo Hra village.
The festival’s organizing board tried to persuade Mo Hra to have this ceremony
held for visitors because buffalo stabbing ceremony is one of the most special
ritual of the Central Highlands.
This ceremony is only held during great event of Central Highland ethnic
peoples, once for each ten year. As a performance, the ceremony was shortened to
only two hours.
