HCM City to have “Sunrise Spring” flower road this Tet
The southern metropolis has unveiled its plans for
the Nguyen Hue flower road to celebrate the lunar New Year 2010 (Tet). The theme
of the flower road will be “Sunrise Spring”.
The city also revealed other activities to celebrate Tet, including: the banh
tet (southern rice cake) festival, firework shows on the New Year Eve and the
Shining Street programme.
The Nguyen Hue flower road will open at 7pm, February 11, 2010 and close at
10pm, February 16, 2010.
The Banh tet festival will comprise a banh tet making competition, a banh tet
offering ritual held at the Hung Kings Temple in District 9, the Ho Chi Minh
Museum and the Ton Duc Thang Museum on February 13, 2010.
In addition, banh tet will be presented to poor families and disadvantaged
children at social patronage centres.
Under the Shining Streets programme, four roads of Nguyen Hue, Le Loi, Dong Khoi
and Le Duan will be decorated with lights and flowers.
The Moment to welcome the New Year programme will include light shows at the
Sunwah, Palace, Fahasa and Duxton building, a music show in front of the Sunwah
building and a show on Nguyen Hue road. The programme will start from 9.30pm of
the New Year’s Eve night.
On New Year’s Eve, fireworkshows will take place at seven locations across the
city.
