Luxury cruiser brings 3,724 passengers docked Phu My port
Some 3,724 passengers and crew members aboard
five-star cruiser Diamond Princess berthed in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province on last
Wednesday.
The 2,648 passengers are mostly from the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Germany, Russia
and Australia, Lao Dong (Labor) newspaper reported.
While the 288.3 meter vessel docked at the province’s Phu My Port, a group of
1,800 travelers took a sightseeing tour to nearby Ho Chi Minh City.
The remaining tourists joined a tour of the southern province, visiting local
craft villages, traditional markets and local attractions.
The cruiser left for Thailand in the afternoon but is scheduled to return to Phu
My on November 25.
Diamond Princess, with nearly 740 balcony staterooms, is managed by premium
American cruise line Princess Cruise. The cruise line is the owner of a fleet of
18 cruisers bringing travelers to more than 330 destinations across the globe.
Launched in 2004, the vessel primarily cruises in Alaska during the summer and
Asia in the winter. It can carry up to 3,100 passengers on one voyage.
