Japanese floral arrangement introduced in Hanoi
President of the Ikebana Association Sumara Eiko
showed 13 styles of Japanese floral art installation known as Ikebana at Ha
Noi’s Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature) on Dec. 5.
This is the second time the Ikebana shows was introduced in Vietnam .
Top artisan Sumara Eiko, who visited Vietnam in 2008, said that she was very
happy to display the Japanese style of floral arrangement in the culture
atmosphere of Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam.
Ikebana, which means “hospitality” in the Japanese language, has been practised
for more than 600 years. The harmonious combination of plants and flower
arrangers’ soul creates the beauty and new style of each work.
Contrary to the idea of floral arrangements as a collection of multi-coloured
arrangement of blooms, Ikebana often emphasises other areas of the plant, such
as its stems and leaves, and emphasises shape, line and form.
