An Indonesian with an ardent love for Vietnam
This amateur photographer, who
grew up in Surabaya, Indonesia, has a hobby of taking numerous photos of all the
places he visits, and posting them on his blog.
Even before the invention of the internet, and his setting up a blog, his hobby
has existed for 20 years.
Along with posting the fine angles of daily life of the places he has visited
recorded in photos, Fifo also writes introductions for each photo on his blog.
Fifo has never missed an opportunity to take photographs during his many visits
to Vietnam for business. He has, so far, made availble to the public hundreds of
photos of Vietnam and its daily life, including architecture, landscapes and
people, such as fishermen in Nha Trang, Hoi An and Phan Thiet, and even the life
of people on the river in Can Tho.
His pictures are evidence of Fifo’s love and admiration of Vietnam, and his
desire to help link Vietnam with other friends in the blogging community, and
they have been greatly appreciated by the many viewers who have visited Fifo’s
blog.
Fifo recalled that destiny brought him to Vietnam several years ago, when when
he enjoyed Pho and drank Vietnamese cofffee in a Vietnamese restaurant in
Jakarta, Indonesia, which first created in him a desire to visit the country.
In addition, buses also formed a bridge that brought him to Vietnam. In Ho Chi
Minh City, he often takes buses as a regular means of transport. “Vietnamese
buses with air-conditioning are cleaner than Indonesian ones”, confided Fifo.
Returning to discussing his blog, Fifo shared, “There is still little
information about Vietnam in foreign countries. Some people even think of
Vietnam as a war not a country. Therefore, through photos of Vietnam, I would
like to introduce a different Vietnam to them”.
“I want to convince them to visit Vietnam at least one time in their lives to
see for themselves what I show and say on my blog. Here, in Vietnam, they are
many business opportunities, and the cost of living is cheaper than in other
countries”, he added.
Several bloggers have follow Fifo’s blog “advertisement” have decided to visit
Vietnam. Fifo gives the example of a blogger called “Sharktalle” in Hongkong
(China). That man became very curious and wanted to visit Vietnam after looking
at photos of Vietnam taken by Fifo and posted on his blog.
As a business manager for an overseas group in Vietnam, Fifo takes advantage of
any free time he has to take photographs. He loves Dalat, a beautiful and cool
place, the most.
Whenever visiting a new place in Vietnam for the first time, Fifo always spends
time to discover its unique, special food. Even though he does not speak
Vietnamese fluently, Fifo can differentiate the various names of different
Vietnamese food and cakes, such as banh beo, banh khot, nem nuong.
Fifo likes canh chua, a sour fish soup with typical spices the most. His family
often goes to market to buy ingredients, and cooks Vietnamese food every two
days.
