Kick off construction for Con Dao Museum
On 06 December, a construction kick-off ceremony
of Con Dao museum took place in Con Dao. Attending were Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh,
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s
Council; Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mr Tran Minh Sanh.
The Con Dao museum project belongs to the Con Dao district’s historic monument
implemented by Petroleum Pipe & Tank Construction Co.,Ltd (PVC-PT) and Petroleum
Industrial & Civil Construction Co., Ltd (PVC-IC). The project has total
investment of more than VND65.8 billion, including construction and installation
cost of VND 36.4 billion and the exhibition cost of VND18 billion.
The Con Dao museum is built on the 20.940m2 area in Ton Duc Thang Street, the
Northeast is adjacent to the Phu Tuong prison, the Southeast is adjacent to
Nguyen Van Cu street. The Con Dao museum consists of gallery; objects storage
and data restoration storage; meeting- hall; work station and other ancillary
works. In which, the gallery occupies 1.700m2, including one space for festivals
and one display with four themes: Con Dao - the country and people; Con Dao –
hell on earth; Con Dao – school and fight for revolution; Con Dao today. The
outdoor display includes materials, objects, models with large cubic volume of
the theme "Con Dao in the past and present”.
It is expected that the Con Dao museum project will be completed by the fourth
quarter of 2010.
