Vietnam Airlines stays competitive on RoK-Vietnam route
In the current global financial crisis, the national carrier has adopted timely
changes to reduce economic losses and maintain its competitiveness with Korean
and other international airlines on the Republic of Korea-Vietnam flight route.
The Vietnam Airlines branch in the RoK predicts that in 2009, the company has
achieved its target for transporting passengers and carried 16 percent more
cargo than planned. It carried about 200,000 passengers and 3,800 tonnes of
cargo from the RoK to Vietnam during the year thus far.
The Chief Representative of Vietnam Airlines in the RoK, Dao Manh Kien, said in
2009, his agency promoted its image and products with a focus on destinations in
central Vietnam. The national flag carrier attended the Korean Tourism Fair, the
largest of its kind in the RoK, where it joined hands with major hotels in
central Vietnam to promote Vietnamese cuisine.
The carrier assisted RoK journalists to enter Vietnam and report about the
country in the RoK’s major newspapers, magazines and TV channels. It also
launched its own Korean-language website to help customers check flight
schedules, book seats, buy tickets, pay online and perform other transactions.
